Clinical Collaboration

Whole-person mental health care sometimes benefits from thoughtful collaboration across disciplines. At Monarchs Therapy, our clinicians may consult with trusted medical professionals when appropriate to support integrative and informed treatment planning.

A Whole-Person Approach to Mental Health

At Monarchs Therapy, we believe meaningful healing happens through care that recognizes the connection between mind, body, and lived experience.

While our clinicians specialize in psychotherapy, we recognize that emotional well-being is often intertwined with physical health, neurological processes, and broader aspects of human functioning.

To support thoughtful and integrative treatment planning, Monarchs Therapy clinicians may access professional consultation with an independent physician specializing in psychiatry-informed, whole-person medical care.

This collaborative approach allows therapists to consider complex factors that may influence a client’s well-being while ensuring that each professional remains fully within their respective scope of practice.

Areas of Clinical Consultation

Consultation may include educational guidance on topics such as:

  • the relationship between mental and physical health
  • psychopharmacology considerations
  • trauma and nervous system regulation
  • mindfulness-based approaches to emotional well-being
  • integrative perspectives on stress, resilience, and healing

This consultation model supports clinicians in providing informed, ethical, and comprehensive psychotherapy care while remaining fully within the scope of mental health practice.

Dr. Maribel “Bella” Khoury, MD

Consulting Physician – Integrative & Mind-Body Medicine

Dr. Bella is a board-certified family medicine physician with fellowship training in psychiatry who has served as a primary care provider for over 25 years. Her work focuses on the care of the mind through evidence-based medicine and a deep appreciation for the whole-person factors that shape human health and well-being.

Her approach is often described as mindful medicine, integrating principles from Western medicine with mindfulness-based practices that support clarity, resilience, and emotional health.

While modern neuroscience allows us to study the brain in extraordinary detail, the mind—consciousness, awareness, and meaning—extends beyond what science can fully explain. Dr. Bella’s work bridges this space by combining rigorous medical science with thoughtful attention to the lived human experience.

Her perspective is also shaped by her personal health journey. Living with multiple sclerosis has deepened her understanding of resilience, uncertainty, and compassionate care, strengthening her commitment to supporting individuals navigating complex health challenges.

Dr. Bella frequently works with individuals seeking thoughtful second opinions and integrative perspectives on mental health and well-being.

In addition to her clinical work, she participates in professional panels and speaking engagements on topics including neuroscience, mental health, resilience, and the intersection of science, medicine, and human meaning.
